Is it necessary to apply screen emulsion in a dark room?

screen emulsion in a dark room

In general, screen printing emulsions always need to be applied in a dimly lit room or, preferably, in a room with a yellow or red safety light.

In particular, ready-to-use gels, like QLT and HS-ONE which are very sensitive to white light, always require more care.

The screen printing frame must always dry in total darkness.

The ideal solution is a lightproof cupboard.
If we put a small, inexpensive fan heater in the cupboard and set it to medium heat, the warm air will dry the frame in approximately 15 minutes.

The temperature must never exceed 35°C, because higher temperatures damage the emulsion and make the subsequent preparation in water more difficult.
