Which are the best inks to use for printing on T-shirts at a live screen-printing event?
After giving it some thought, I think that water-based inks are perhaps not the most suitable because they dry quite quickly on the screen, whilst for plastisol inks you would need to take a flash dryer or a heat press.
I imagine the ideal approach would be to use inks that last on the screen for a long time without drying and don’t require polymerisation.
That’s true, water-based inks aren’t fit for this type of use because you would have to work quickly and many spare frames would be needed for the inevitable substitutions.
The most practical solution, which CPL Fabbrika uses sometimes, is to use plastisol together with a light, inexpensive heat press.
The inexpensive 38×38 cm heat presses are only rated at 1,400 Watts, so they can easily be connected to the electricity supply. If it’s only for short periods of time, it might be a good idea to hire them: CPL Fabbrika offers this service.
